As the first major brand campaign for the Meta Quest 2, we wanted to make a splash and tease where the category is heading.

We used the Super Bowl as a stage to show that VR is social with a :60 spot. To add to the “meta-ness” of it all, we recreated some of the film locations as virtual locations in Horizon Worlds that were able to be visited by anyone. As a further proof point to the social nature of VR, we invited the Super Bowl viewers to an exclusive after party in the metaverse featuring a performance by the Foo Fighters.

Finally, to take the social narrative into every day homes, we hosted a series of virtual Game Nights and invited the community to join each week to play virtual games such as mini golf and poker with influencers.

Meta

When launching the new Beat Saber x Lizzo music pack, we wanted to reach our untapped female audience by focusing on creativity, self-expression and authenticity and showing how music and movement can create an equal playing field.

To do this, we worked with celebrity choreographer Sean Bankhead and director Tanu Muino to create a bespoke dance routine, featuring diverse talent, to Lizzo’s “2 B Loved (Am I Ready?)”. We launched the piece across social media, including a TikTok dance challenge, engaged influencers to build hype, and created game focused content from female content creators.

To launch the latest edition of LeBron footwear at Nike's flagship House of Innovation in New York, we took inspiration from the industrial machines used to create Nike’s footwear and created three hanging displays that showcase the latest LeBron footwear innovations. For an additional dramatic effect, we inset illuminated frosted floor tiles propped with various footwear DNA elements.

Take the action to a moon base. Lay siege to a Viking village. Fight in zero gravity with nothing but swords.

For Population: One’s upcoming sandbox tool, which allows players to create, play and share their own bespoke worlds, we developed a fun and driving trailer which showcased the breath of the base game and the sandbox mode without taking itself too seriously.

For Olay’s “Face Anything” campaign, Olay sent models of diverse skin tones and abilities down the runway make-up free in an effort to promote confidence, diversity and natural beauty during New York Fashion Week.

To ensure focus stayed on the model’s beautiful, make-up free faces, we created “skinvisibility” cloaks for the models to wear. Using a live stream that was projection mapped onto dresses made of retro-reflective material which created the illusion of invisibility. New York City based designer Karolina Zmarlark worked on the empowering dress design.

DDB Amsterdam

Can the Philips Wake-up Light ease waking up in a town where the sun doesn’t shine? We went to the North Pole to find out. Teaming up with documentary filmmaker, Doug Prey, we chronicled the mornings of the folks of Longyearbyen, Svalbard, as they tested the effect of waking up to light through the extreme darkness of Polar Night. Through the course of the experiment, we documented the resident’s mornings before and after using the Wake-up Light, the townspeople sent a daily status update of their mood which would automatically be displayed on the website so visitors could track exactly how the people of Longyearbyen were feeling that morning.

We worked with Macy's to help create their iconic holiday windows to bring magic and awe to the millions of people that visit the display during the season. From concepting, design, fabrication and creative technology, our aim is to push the boundaries of what can be done creatively and technically in a window experience.

This year, our focus was to bring fun interactions to each window though integrated technology. This included augmented reality, controllable LEDs, interactive animations, and a playable video game. During peaks hours over their 8 week run, 10,000 visitors an hour engage with the displays.

DDB Amsterdam

To promote the launch of Philips new 21:9 Cinema television, DDB along with RSA created 5 very different short films all using the same piece of dialogue. We generated support for this campaign by creating a short film competition, which encouraged users to create and submit their own short film. The catch? Just like the RSA directors, users had to use only the exact six lines of the given dialogue. After a public round of voting, ten finalists were chosen by a judging panel from RSA, British Academy of Film & Television Arts (BAFTA) and Philips. Two final winners were announced, one chosen by public voting and one chosen by Sir Ridley Scott himself. The winners were treated to an all expense paid, one-week work experience at the RSA offices.

The success was unprecedented with over a thousand submissions, extremely high production values, several thousands of votes, and the RSA short film 'The Gift' winning a Grand Prix at Cannes.

Target brought back their iconic holiday pop-up with an activity and selfie filled experience in New York City. We created several interactive activations within the space including an interactive Star Wars hallway that triggered animated lightsabers and illuminated floor pads, a pneumatic tube system that would whisk your holiday wishes to the North Pole and an on-demand Kinder Egg delivery system which contributed to Target’s Toys for Tots donation fund with each interaction. The pop-up was a hit with thousands of daily visitors and lines out the door every day.

Night Agency

For Kiehl's new Nightly Refining Micro Peel Concentrate made with quinoa husk, we wanted to share the unique discovery story of quinoa's natural exfoliating properties. Based on the key character Jim, a small quinoa husk, the video was to tell ‘A Husky Story’, or the Unexpected Skincare Triumph of a Quinoa Husk Named Jim. In the video, we travel with Jim on his journey from his home on the quinoa farm to then be a fundamental ingredient in the new Kiehl’s Micro-Peel product. What made this already lovely project particularly special was Kiehl’s partnership with Fundación Proinpa, a foundation that promotes sustainable Quinoa production and community outreach throughout Bolivia.

For their holiday campaign, Paypal urged gift givers to give better by promoting independent, small businesses on iconic 5th Avenue in Manhattan. Standard Transmission worked with Goodby Silverstein & Partners to concept, design and fabricate five stunning holiday window displays each featuring a different small business.

Each window was complete with painstaking detail, animations and integrated e-commerce to support on the fly purchasing.

To promote Verizon’s B2B 5G solutions, we gutted, redesigned and refurbished a Ford E-450 Bus and converted it into a mobile theater. Outfitted with 270 degree video, external display, modular furniture, custom interior fittings plus a robust content delivery system running on Unity. The bus currently showcases Verizon’s capabilities through bespoke creative content at different events around the country.

What is the real price of technology? The tech industry makes regular use of minerals like tungsten, cobalt and gold but much of that intense, manual labor is performed by modern day slaves.

To drive home the ubiquity of slave labor in the modern world, we created a pair of headphones and sent them to David Cogen, founder of the unboxing YouTube channel The Unlockr. Hidden throughout the product and packaging are sobering statistics about the 40,000 children enslaved to mine cobalt in the Congo, or the 10 children each month who die mining mica in India.

The headphones were custom designed and fabricated without the use of any slave mined minerals and included an automated trigger that would play a real story of a modern day slave who lost a friend when a mine collapsed.

We partnered with Simon Huck to bring to life his ambitious vision in the form of an Instagram experience during New York Fashion Week. The environment was inspired by luxury retail stores with a surreal futuristic vibe that posed the question “What does the future of fashion look like?”.

Visitors were confronted with real actors outfitted in fashion-forward prosthetics and posed in custom display cases. We created multiple “fitting rooms” and interactive sculptures that offered plenty of opportunities for participants to capture the perfect selfie.

Stink Digital

Project Loon is a network of balloons traveling on the edge of space, designed to connect people in rural and remote areas, help fill coverage gaps, and bring people back online after disasters.

To launch this ambitious project, we worked closely with Google's X and Creative Lab teams to define a brand identity that would simply explain complex technologies in a simple and playful way. Additionally, we designed and built a microsite that would bring the design direction to life. As this site needed to be global in the truest sense, we created a simple visual language and interaction that would convey the baseline facts of the Loon project while allowing the experience to be accessible on nearly any device.

We worked with artist Dan Lam to transform her whimsical mini blob sculptures into larger than life scale for the ICA Boston’s Summer Friday events. The giant sculptures were made to be climbed on, sat on and were treated with thermochromic paint that would trigger a color change when touched - all while withstanding a summer outside on Boston’s waterfront.

To highlight the scale of the global education crisis, we created a room with seemingly endless empty desks that represent the 260 million children that don’t go to school. The infinity classroom was displayed at the UN Plaza in New York during the General Assembly and encouraged the #WriteTheWrong campaign to build mass awareness of the education crisis and mobilize the political will and financial support to give every child a chance to achieve their potential.

Stink Digital

Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at your favorite pizza spot? To prove the claim that their dough is hand rolled and never frozen, Domino's gave their customers a front row seat to their pizza making process from start to finish. We worked with Crispin Porter + Bogusky, to install live streaming cameras into the kitchen of a Domino's shop in Salt Lake City. From there, we setup a live stream site where visitors could take a peak into five different camera feeds which features different angles of the pizza making process. With a click of a button on the site, a sign in the shop, personalized with your name, lights up to let the kitchen staff know they're doing a great job.

To launch Nike’s latest running shoe at their flagship House of Innovation in New York, we created a set of displays that showcase the innovation and technology integrated into the footwear that helps to reduce running injuries. The displays showcased animatronics to replicate the testing process, information about the technology including hand written notes from the original designers.

TBWA Amsterdam

To raise awareness of the global threats that are destroying our marine life and bringing an abrupt end to sustainable fishing, we created a long form animated TVC, website which housed details about the issues and ways to get involved, and an OOH print campaign. Through these channels, we brought to life the dangers that face us due to commercial fishing, bomb fishing and ocean pollution and offered viewers several ways to support the cause including helping to build an artificial coral reef in Belize. As WWF is a non-profit organization, we created the whole campaign for a limited production budget which included an original music track which blew up on the local pop charts.
